SUMMARY: You shall not commit adultery
«You shall not commit adultery», the 7th Word of the Decalogue according to Jewish numbering, constitutes the guiding theme for the Day for deepening the dialogue between Jews and Catholic (17 January 2013). The invitation to avoid adultery appears in the two versions of the Decalogue and in Lv 20:10. If in the Torah we do not find other occurances forbidding adultery, however this theme is found with frequency in prophetic texts in which the comparasion with the relationship between God and the people of Israel is made with a marital link between husband and wife.
