«Codices nongentis annis vetustiores»
La prima edizione a stampa di alcuni dei più antichi Sacramentari fu realizzata dal card. G.M. Tomasi nel 1680. La traduzione italiana della Praefatio, che appare per la prima volta nella storia, permette di accostarne il contenuto e di valorizzare le indicazioni storico-contenutistiche offerte dal grande e santo studioso (1649-1713). Dopo di lui saranno predisposte altre edizioni e la conoscenza delle fonti liturgiche si svilupperà e permetterà un decisivo arricchimento della liturgia attraverso la riforma promossa dal Vaticano II.

The first printed edition of some of the most ancient Sacramentaries was performed by card. G.M. Tomasi in 1680. The Italian translation of the Praefatio which appears now for the first time in the history, allows to approach its contents and evaluate the historical-content information that are presented by this great and holy scholar (1643-1713). After his death, other editions shall be prepared and the knowledge of liturgical sources shall be developed, so that it will be possible a decisive enrichment of Liturgy by means of the reform promoted by the Council Vatican II.
