SUMMARY: Mixed Marriage in 1 Cor 7:12-16: An Ecumenical Pauline Challenge for Africa
In the New Testament we already encounter the foundation for the sacrality and indissolubility of matrimony, but we find very few indications on the specific question of mixed marriages. A few elements appear in the Pauline corpus. The author wants to propose an exegetical analysis of the rare case in the New Testament for a pastoral application to multi-cultural and multi-religious Africa. The exegesis is preceded by the recounting of a personal experience of a mixed family. By an attentive reading of the Bible we are made aware that the problems of today are ancient and we may find in the Word of God a help for their solution.
